I’m thrilled to share my experiences as an Iranian student in Malaysia with you. My name is Mohammad Mahdi Seifi, a full-time student for BBA at University Putra Malaysia. If you’re considering Malaysia as a destination for an exchange semester or even full time study, I hope this blog helps you make an informed decision.

Firstly, Malaysia is renowned for its cultural diversity and warm hospitality. The country is a melting pot of three major cultures, with a vibrant mix of international workers, students, and tourists. Rest assured, you’ll feel welcomed and embraced by the friendly locals, who are known for their openness, especially towards foreigners.

When it comes to food, Malaysian cuisine is a treat for the senses. While “to die for” might be an exaggeration, having traveled and lived in over 20 countries across Asia and Europe, I can confidently say that Malaysian food is a delightful experience. From local dishes to exotic fruits, particularly those from street food vendors, the culinary adventure is memorable. I vividly recall my first week in the university dorm, where I savored street food from a food truck. The flavors were so exceptional that I still crave them today.

Let me share a memorable experience from my time here. During the COVID-19 pandemic, when most places were locked down, the Malaysian government eventually eased restrictions, allowing people to resume normal activities. To encourage visits to public areas, places like amusement parks and water parks offered amazing discounts, such as 80% off tickets. My sister and I decided to take advantage of this offer and visit Sunway Lagoon waterpark.

It was a perfect Tuesday—clear skies, mild temperatures, and ideal conditions for a waterpark visit. To our surprise, there were only 7-8 other people in the entire park, aside from us. There were no lines or waits. After finishing a rollercoaster, we even asked the operator to start another round without getting off! We spent the day riding attractions multiple times and even created our own short movie in the park's Wild West theme. It was a day full of fun and unforgettable moments.

Ultimately, the decision to study in Malaysia is up to you. If you’re adventurous and eager to explore new foods, places, and activities, Malaysia is an excellent choice. However, if you prefer sticking to familiar routines and are not open to new experiences, you might not get the full benefit of what Malaysia has to offer.
