VALIDITY PERIOD FOR TRAVEL AUTHORIZATION APPROVALS ISSUED via EMGS



 

1.     PURPOSE:

1.1  EMGS had previously issued a bulletin on 18th July 2020 on the requirement for all International Students to obtain a Travel Authorization issued by the Director General of the Malaysian Immigration via EMGS prior to entering Malaysia.
 
1.2  The purpose of this bulletin is to provide an update on the Travel Authorization approvals issued by the Director General of the Malaysian Immigration Department via EMGS based on a circular issued by the Malaysian Immigration Department (Ref:IM.101/HQ-G/1130/1/1-2 Jld.15(45) dated 9th July 2021)

 

2.     IMPLEMENTATION:
 
2.1  Please note all Travel Authorization applications which have been approved by the Director General of the Malaysian Immigration Department via EMGS will have a validity period stated in the letter.

 
2.2  The validity period for Travel Authorization approvals issued via EMGS is as follows:
 
  • Existing Students (Renewal Applications) – Validity period of 3 months from the date of issuance.
 
  • New Students (New Applications) – Validity period of 6 months from the date of issuance. The Travel Authorization approvals are issued together with the Electronic Visa Approval Letter (eVAL) and the expiry date is co-terminus with the expiry date of the eVAL.

 
2.3  Kindly note that all Travel Authorization approvals previously issued via EMGS will also have the same validity period criteria.
 
2.4  International Students must ensure that their Travel Authorization approvals are still valid before making plans to travel to Malaysia.
 
2.5  All International Students with Travel Authorization approvals that have exceeded the validity period are required to re-apply to obtain a New Travel Authorization approval.
