1. PURPOSE:
1.1 EMGS would like to provide updates on the previous bulletins issued by EMGS regarding the quarantine period for all incoming travellers including International Students arriving in Malaysia from overseas.
1.2 Following the spread of several new variants of SARS-CoV-2 in the community as reported by the Ministry of Health (MOH), the National Disaster Management Agency NADMA) has revised the quarantine period for all incoming travelers to Malaysia.
2. IMPLEMENTATION:
2.1 Effective 24th May 2021, all travellers arriving to Malaysia are subjected to 14 days quarantine at designated government quarantine stations.
2.2 Kindly note that all international students traveling to Malaysia are required to:
2.2.1 Download, register and activate the MySejahtera application in their mobile phone before arriving in Malaysia. They are required to use the MySejahtera application to scan the QR code upon arrival at the international entry point.
2.2.2 Update the essential information such as travel information (date and time, flight information, port of embarkation, Quarantine Station) as well as health declaration need to be registered in MySejahtera at least three (3) days from date of departure.
2.2.3 Undergo the RT-PCR Covid-19 Test three (3) days before travelling to Malaysia. The RT-PCR Covid-19 test must show a “Negative”result and must be translated in ENGLISH so that the respective authorities in Malaysia can inspect it.
2.2.4 Complete the online payment for the quarantine and the Covid-19 Screening Test through MySafeTravel (www.safetravel.myeg.com.my) / MyQr application by MyEG (www.myeg.gov.my) and provide the payment slip at the international entry point upon arrival.
2.2.5 Use the MySejahtera application to scan the QR code upon arrival at the international entry point.
2.2.6 Undergo a screening for fever and other symptoms at the international airport entry point. Students showing COVID-19 symptoms will be referred to the hospital for further treatment.
2.2.7 Undergo a second COVID-19 screening test at the arrival hall in the international airport entry point.
2.2.8 Students without a valid RT-PCR COVID-19 certificate are required to undergo swab test (RT-PCR) the international airport entry point. Those who are transiting in less than 24 hours at KLIA and continuing their journey to Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan will have to do RTK-Antigen test (subject to the current order and permission of the Labuan/Sabah/Sarawak/ State Government).
2.2.9 Undergo mandatory quarantine for 14 days at a quarantine station designated by the Malaysian Government.
2.2.10 The quarantine period of 14 days will be extended to 21 days (7 days extension), depending on the risk assessment conducted on the students on the 14th day of the quarantine. The quarantine extension period of 7 days will be done at the same quarantine station.
2.2.11 The third COVID-19 test will be conducted on the 10th day of the quarantine and the 4th COVID-19 test, if necessary, will be done on the 18th day of the quarantine.
2.2.12 A Health Assessment Tool (HAT) will be provided to students to monitor their own health throughout the quarantine period.
2.2.13 Students will have to conduct daily self-health assessments and report to the quarantine station personnel if they start to experience any of the COVID-19 symptoms as outlined by the Ministry of Health
2.2.14 Remain in a quarantine station and not leave the room.
2.2.15 Comply with SOPs, laws and regulations related to the management of COVID-19 which has been prescribed by the Government Malaysia at all times.
2.2.16 Students will be released from the quarantine station in accordance with the Ministry of Health’s regulations and security measures.
2.2.17 Student will be issued with a Release Order upon the completion of the quarantine period by the Ministry of Health.
2.3 The quarantine cost remains the same as previously announced. International Students are required to pay RM150/ per night and a fixed fee of RM 2,600 (Quarantine Station Operations). Kindly note that this amount does not include the cost for COVID-19 detection tests. All fees imposed by the Government of Malaysia including Covid-19 detection test, quarantine cost, and hospital admittance fee (if required) must be borne by International Students.
2.4 All international students are allowed to enter Malaysia except for students from restricted countries. The list of restricted countries is subject to the latest circular by the Government of Malaysia.
